How to Submit a Migration Request at KnownHost

Migrating your website to KnownHost is easy, fast, and secure. Especially with our Kickstart Migration Service. Whether you’re moving from a shared host or your own VPS, our in-house team makes the transition smooth and stress-free.

To get started, you’ll need to submit a migration request using our Migration Form. This guide walks you through it, step by step.

Step-by-Step: Submitting Your Migration Request

  1. Log in to the KnownHost Client Portal
Visit my.knownhost.com and log in to your account.
  2. Open the Migration Form
You’ll find it under the Helpdesk section, labeled “Migration Form”. Alternatively, click here if you’re already logged in.
  3. Fill Out the Form
Here’s what you’ll need to complete:
    • Subject: (e.g., Migration – mysite.com).
This gets prefilled for you based on service selected.
    • Destination Service: Choose the KnownHost service you’re migrating to from the provided dropdown list.
    • Source Server Login Information:
Provide access details so our team can securely pull your data. This typically includes:
      • Connection Type (e.g, SSH or Panel Logins)
      • IP or Hostname
      • Port
      • Username
      • Password or API Token
All credentials are kept confidential and used exclusively for the migration.
    • Ticket Message:
Use this to share anything helpful with our migrations specialists. This might include:
      • Control panel type
      • Special configuration needs
      • Email or database priorities
    • Custom software that may need to be moved (If VPS/Dedicated Server)
      • Such as redis, postgresql, memcached, mongodb, node.js, etc
      • Specific python versions that don’t exist on destination
  4. Submit the Form
Once all fields are completed, click Submit at the bottom. A migration ticket will be created, and our team will follow up shortly.

What Happens Next?

Once the request is submitted, our migration specialists will:

  • Perform a quick review of your setup
  • Provide an estimation of time for migration work
  • Begin migrating your website content, databases, emails, and configurations
  • Verify and ensure website is operational on the destination
  • Notify you once the migration is complete or if any questions arise

Pro Tip: Prepare Your Old Host

To avoid delays, we recommend:

  • Leaving your old hosting service active until we finish the migration
  • Disabling any IP restrictions or firewalls temporarily
  • Backing up your site manually for peace of mind (optional)
