Migrations that fall outside the supported paths, such as custom or non-panel environments, sites without control panel access, merging multiple sites into one, complex multi-site WordPress setups, or cross-platform proprietary migrations, fall under our paid service at $35/hour (1-hour minimum), which includes full-site verification and quality checks. Most WordPress migrations finish in under an hour.

No. Our migration process is built around zero downtime, so your visitors keep reaching your live site on the old host throughout the entire transfer. The way it works: we copy your files, databases, and email onto our servers in the background while your domain still points at the old host. Once everything is in place on our end, you verify the new site using a preview URL, and only then do you update DNS to cut traffic over to KnownHost. Because DNS is the final step (not the first one), there's no window where visitors hit an empty or half-built server.
First, a quick clarification: website migration and domain transfer are two different things. Migration is what our team does for you, copying your website files, databases, and email from your old host to KnownHost's servers. A domain transfer is a separate process where you move your domain's registration from your current registrar to KnownHost. The two often get lumped together, but they're handled independently.
For the website migration itself, the recommended order is: (1) sign up for your KnownHost plan, (2) let our migration team copy your files, databases, and email over to the new server, (3) preview the new site using a hosts file edit (we'll walk you through this) to confirm everything works, then (4) update your domain's DNS to point at KnownHost. Doing it in that order means your visitors keep hitting your live site on the old host until the new one is ready, with no broken pages and no downtime.
If you also want to move your domain registration to KnownHost, we can help with that too, but it should be done after the website migration is complete and your site is fully live on our servers. Doing the domain transfer first or in parallel adds unnecessary risk during the cutover window, while doing it afterward keeps everything clean and predictable.
