KnownHost's managed KVM CLOUD VPS Hosting packages are enterprise grade hosting, yet a cost effective substitute for shared/reseller hosting or dedi servers with one major difference: KVM Cloud Hosting (Cloud Servers) gives you the flexibility, power & security of the cloud, minus the high price tag.
We have VPS servers, dedicated servers, cloud hosting with more domains, or any custom configuration you may want!

KVM (Kernel Virtualized Machine) is another method of virtualization in which the VPS operates its own server on the host node. KVM provides full kernel virtualization where the user has total control over every aspect of the server. In comparison to a virtualization such as 'OpenVZ' -- where only a shared kernel is used. KVM offers more features for the user who isn't quite ready to step to a dedicated server but still wants to run applications such as Docker.
Our Cloud VPS range is built on OpenStack and Ceph using KVM. This means there is a distributed storage that works behind your KVM that causes your data to split between many more parallel SSD drives that work in unison. Because of this, you are given the redundancy of the cloud with the speed of massive parallel architecture. At KnownHost, your hardware has redundancy built in, making it possible for an entire server failure to have zero data loss and so that the virtual machine can be booted onto new hardware in a matter of minutes. This, combined with backup snapshots and many configuration optimizations means that you won't find a more resilient platform than our Cloud KVM servers.
Yes! Thanks to the incredible performance of KVM technology, OpenStack and Ceph. Where a traditional VPS would rely on a half-dozen or more RAID drives locally (all SSD), it doesn't handle as many IOPS as the massively parallel handling of Ceph distributed storage. While 6 RAID SSD drives can be very, very fast, when it comes to larger numbers of accounts on a box - Ceph creates a gigantic pooled pipeline to assorted SSD's, perhaps hundreds, in order to make transfers at an accelerated pace.
Definitely. Because of the OpenStack based architecture, your hardware has redundancy built in, making it possible for an entire server failure to have zero data loss and so that the virtual machine can be booted onto new hardware in a matter of minutes. This, combined with backup snapshots and many configuration optimizations means that you won't find a more resilient platform than our Cloud VPS servers.
With the distributed storage, redundancy, and virtual machine management systems in place, we're able to alter your server to include more storage, CPU and/or network throughput (transfers) on short notice, and without downtime. No need to knock you offline - it's a simple configuration management change we do in the background.
It all boils down to the amount of resources you require. If you've got a number of domains that have small numbers of pages, small load (low visitor numbers) and don't eat resources like a big ecommerce package (Magento for example), then shared or reseller plans might be all you need. When your visitor numbers, page numbers or application demands grow, it's time to move up to a VPS - either traditional SSD VPS or Cloud VPS. Speak with one of our sales reps who can help you look over what you've got, what you're trying to achieve, and put together a game plan that meets your needs and doesn't cost a fortune.
