Multiple domains coverage
A few years ago, SSL was optional. In this day and age, it's now a requirement for anyone with a presence online. Whether it's to secure ecommerce transactions, protect email coming and going, or just to have the peace of mind - you know that you've taken the first steps in creating a secure online environment for your business, staff, customers and visitors.
FREE SSL certificates come with many of our hosting plans. If you're going to host with KnownHost, you could probably get an SSL cert for free. Just ask one of our sales reps and we'll discuss the right solution for your needs. There are occasions when organization or extended validation makes the most sense, and hence requires more than a basic free SSL certificate.
Domain Validation
Designed for entry level server security certificates, these provide the lowest minimum level of validation provided by any of the main commercial certificate authorities. Simply providing control over the DNS of a domain is enough to validate or verify the ownership of a domain. In fact, if you can update whois records or DNS records, receive an email and send a reply or publish a nonce by an automated issuing system, then you qualify for a DV cert.
Organization Validation
The next step beyond DV is OV. An organization validation SSL certificate is issued when someone can meet a criteria for receiving a DV certificate AND who can prove the organization's existence as a legal entity. In effect, control of a domain plus the fact it's associated with a legal company that's recognized by the appropriate national governmental agency in a given country.
Extended Validation
The most highly respected and difficult to achieve SSL certificates, EV certs require meeting the criteria for DV plus OV as well as also needing to prove the legal identity of the buyer, who has to run the gauntlet of manual human checks. The green bar of the browser is the gold standard for SSL certificates, where banks and other highly trusted organizations typically tread. Your site can enjoy the incredible trust found with the green bar - something that results in increased conversion rates, decreased bounce rates and overall trust increases. An EV SSL certificate is the gold standard for trust.
Yes, sometimes it's easier to implement multiple certificates instead of one master certificate designed to fit all occasions. Typically this includes cases of sites that serve up their content without a www. prefix, or those with multiple domains and subdomains requiring SSL coverage.
EssentialSSL is simply PositiveSSL with a few upgrades. With an EssentialSSL certificate, you can get free EV upgrade, free 24/7 technical support and most importantly to many, you get the free use of the Site Seal which is a key trust signal for those who are shopping at your site.
PositiveSSL certs are inexpensive Domain Validation SSL certificates which are issued instantly and cheaply, and include $10,000 Comodo warranty (mostly because they can be validated automatically. InstantSSL certificates use Organization Validation, take much longer to be issued, cost more, and have $50,000 Comodo warranty.
Regular SSL certificates protects a single domain, period. Wildcard certificates protect a domain and all the subdomains associated with that domain. Keep in mind that the wildcard certs are not available with Extended Validation. So, if you have a wildcard cert, you won't get the green browser bar!
Up to 250 domains, IP's or SAN's can be covered by a single multi-domain SSL certificate. They aren't cheap, but they do give umbrella coverage to an organization which has many domains and would otherwise need multiple single-domain certificates.
The list is too long for just one sentence - check out the big list of reasons below!
Flexibility
You can choose from a wide range of certificates to fit your needs. From the needs of a single domain certificate to a wildcard certificate covering your entire subdomain structure.
Trust
EV certificates provide your customers a peace of mind by the web browser displaying a green address bar while visiting a website with an EV certificate. OV Certificates include further company verification and a site badge confirming your identity.
PCI Compliance
Ensuring your website is secured by a SSL Certificate helps you meet the needs of today's PCI requirements.
Money-Back Guarantee
All Certificates come with a limited 7 day money back guarantee should anything be found wrong with the certificate.
Compatibility
Don't take a chance on your certificate not being compatible with the latest browser or mobile device. Ensure compatibility by placing your trust in a Premium SSL Certificate and rest at ease knowing your not turning away potential visitors to your website.
Warranty
Premium SSL Certificates offer an end user warranty against fraudulent charges if the Certificate Authority fails to properly verify the identity of a website. This warranty is payable to the end user from the Certificate Authority only for fraudulent charges due to improper verification. Each certificate has a varying warranty from $10,000 and up.
