CA to WA Datacenter Migration

I suspect that I have been migrated from vz60-ca due to some recently observed behavior changes on my VPS.

How can I confirm what node I am on? I cant find anything in Power Panel that indicates the node name. In the past I would do a tracert and the last IP before my VPS IP in the route would resolve to vz60-ca.privatesystems.net [72.172.67.60]. A tracert no longer resolves the last IP before my VPS IP, which also makes me think I have been migrated.

What is the secret in getting the Node name?

Thanks
Laurie

@cits

Traceroute is the easiest way to determine which node you're on. We've made some configuration changes on our side to allow this for WA now but it may take some time for this to start working for you.

If you open a support ticket we can very easily tell you what node you're on.

I've heard that several under sea fiber landing points in China are being repaired. This is most likely why you are seeing worse results. We are taking things slow but will try and get things done as quickly but safely as possible.

Seriously, please consider migrate va21-ca as soon as you can. More than 20 days have passed, CHINA TELECOM(more than half Chinese use this ISP) to KH-CA still laggy. China---England---France---USA:

It's just KH-CA has this "Around the Earth" thing, connect from China Telecom to other hosts are fine, like linode-Fremont CA、servint-LA...

If migrate va21-ca is too much for you, could you please migrate my package from CA to WA first please?

@silihai

I'd recommend contacting your ISP as they control the odd routing you're seeing, especially since routing to other IP space in LA/CA is fine.

We're running the migrations as quickly as we can, but we're making sure everything is done properly as to prevent any downtime.

The overall migration is just over one quarter complete. Approximately 27%. The original post has been updated to reflect this.

Looks like my VPS was moved last night. All sites have very erratic page load times...from 2 seconds up to, well, never. I started a ticket.

What's your ticket ID? This certainly isn't right. From the sounds of it it's going to be something else coincidentally and probably not anything directly connected to the move.

@turbo2ltr,

As I suspected this isn't really related to the move at all. It's more of an issue with the node which arose a little bit ago and we're currently working on. We should have this resolved soon and your ticket will be updated at that time.

To me it's related to the move, because my old node was working just fine! lol. But I'm not positive that I was moved last night so you could be somewhat right.

I'm very happy to announce that the migration of our infrastructure and all VPSs from CA to WA has been completed successfully. There are no longer any IP tunnels active and all connections are now direct to our servers in WA.

great :) Now waiting for the SSD nodes in WA datacenter :)

or may be it is possible to transfer my VPS from WA to TX SSD node in the same magic way?

SSDs will be coming to WA at some point in the future, but there's no exact timeframe on this.

Moving from WA to TX SSD would require an IP change so it can't be done in this magic way unfortunately.
