update the system automatic?

the updater does not update the centos system?
I have connected by ssh and I have done yum-update but apache release is already 2.0.58 and php is already 4.3.9. How can I update them to the last releases? Is not an automatic update?

Some people dont like using php5 so i think it updates to the latest 4.x

Well, to use YUM to update your php to the latest 5.x , you first will have to enable [centosplus] in CentOS-Base.repo
