Is Spam Assassin (spamd) a resource hog?

It takes up a pretty large CPU % on my VPS -- I think it was around 10% last I checked -- but I haven't noticed any performance issues as a result. Everything is humming along smoothly, so there's plenty of elbow room to spare at this time.

The main annoyance is I get constant email notifications for lfd due to spamd running for too long. I haven't dug deep enough into the settings to see if I can modify the notification thresholds for various applications.

    Hello alake,

Yes it is a resource hog. But I haven't found any spam blocking software that isn't.
