Centos version for CPanel VPS, and VPS lifetime

What version of Centos is Knownhost deploying on new CPanel VPSes?

Any guidance on how long a CPanel VPS can go before being redeployed? This for a VPS running fairly vanilla content management system websites each on its own CPanel login. This is running Centos 6 so the end of life on the OS is 2020, but is it reasonable to actually keep a system that long before a rebuild?

Thanks.

For now, CentOS 6.x. It will run just fine until the EOL of the OS which as you stated is 2020 at which point we recommend upgrading. There's no real reason to upgrade any sooner unless you need a new feature of a newer release. It's very feasible to run a server all the way through the OS's EOL.

CentOS 7 + cPanel isn't quite stable yet (cPanel just released some EDGE builds which we're testing) but shortly after it's considered stable we should start deploying it by default instead of CentOS 6.
