Spam to random addresses

How do you cope with spam to random addresses? E.g. sazyc@domain.com, wqrasqe@domain.com. We have a VPS with ~30 domains on it, and two have catch-all enabled. From those two, I just cleared my junk folder since two months -- a mighty 13310 mails, an average of 220 per day.

We've now installed some SpamAssassin tweaks to get rid of the delivery of these random mails to catch-all addresses.

However, if you do the maths, this would make some 3300 spams per day. That must already be putting some load on system resources, even if they aren't delivered?

We also have a "This address doesn't exist" responder in place, I guess eliminating that would do a great deal of good in terms of resources saved. Thoughts?
