So if it's managed, do I get root?

I'm interested in Known Host, but I really don't need the "managed" part of the offering. I have extensive experience as a Linux sysadmin.

So if I sign up with knownhost, do I get root and can manage it how I like, or do I have to work through a panel only?

What if I want a panel like cpanel/WHM - can I have that AND root?
 
You can have managed or unmanaged VPS. You can order cPanel/WHM if you like. Managed servers require cPanel. You have full root access either way.
 
As kingtas mentioned you do have "full root access" with all VPS's including no control panel based VPS's as well as control panel based (Managed with something like cPanel). Hope this helps.
