Reset password Joomla

Hello,
I need reset password joomla, but instructions in http://docs.joomla.org/How_you_reset_an_administrator_password?, not function.

support knownhost says it would have to do hack, but do not.

I have also tried to recover it with this link provided by support: http://reckewegcolombia.com.co/index.php?option=com_user&view=reset&Itemid=111#content, but the information never reaches the administrator email.

I have done this and it does work for Joomla 2.5.x and up
