MySQL update question

Hi

I looked at here to upgrade

I followed instruction exactly, I though I upgraded my mysql
but when I go to phpmy admin I see it says Mysql version 4.1.22

in my panel

Default configuration says this

previous configuration says

[Broken External Image]:http://upload3.postimage.org/99729_cc42bdd786b7972f1d838823a248c201/previousconfig.gif



I did it a few times back and forth again and again but am confused here
any body can help?
