Anyone else getting PM spam from user: Stephanie ?
Spammed with a PM
Was I the only one who got a PM like this?
This is the message that was sent:
Hi,I'm new here, how's it going?"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein---Stephaniehttp://stephanie2.110mb.com
I've not gotten any PM from this person, but I assume the mods will deal with this fast.
username stephanie is spamming
I did get that PM too
This should be resolved. If not, let us know.
I got one too....
There is already two threads in the Lounge about this....
I got spam pm from stephanie.
Threads merged. Stephanie's account was banned about 3 hours ago as per Jay's post
I have been getting "buddhism" PM spam a lot on different forums lately. Craziness...
There is talk of a program which can send PM's via forums and blogs. For obvious reasons I am not going to mention the name of it here, but I feel that this is just one of the reasons that many forums are suffering from these strange PM messages.
And one reason I like a private forum/blog is to avoid the spam that places like MySpace bring. And now they bring that spam to your own forum! What next? Viagra ads on legitimate sites?
Every now and then I get users on my forum doing the same thing...Easy fix...BAN! lol
Spam Scam by PM!
Just received a PM by a member - barrolacoker001 here. Can someone take any action?
Yes, I know - sadly these spammers are getting in.
Management has been notified and users will be banned very soon.
The user has been permanently banned.
Are there any anti-bot measures that could be taken to prevent future bot registrations? Some kind of 'humanizing' question to ask during the registration process?
Yep, that was already done. Either these bots have gotten a lot smarter, or these are real humans who are registering these accounts.
If they're actual humans, then maybe there's a pattern to follow that can help us stop them?
Separate names with a comma.
