Intermittent 404 not found on my VPS.

I just ordered the VPS the other day and I'm getting intermittent 404 not found when trying to load a PHP on my website from my browser. The 404 is coming from the server itself, which doesn't make sense. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas?

I think it has to do with my DNS configuration. I can access consistently without using www.

Glad you got it figured out. DNS can cause weird issues like this for sure, especially during migrations.

Whoops, read that wrong. What's your domain? If you don't want to post it here you can PM it to me or give me a ticket number with the domain in it.

That's what it is. I wasn't clear on how to set up the new IP's at Network Solutions. It wants you to set one for www, one for @ and one for *. I did that for both IP's for my VPS, but it appears the secondary was causing an issue with 404's. xue-ent.net is my domain. I'm using my VPS for private back-end data storage and retrieval, so it's not used or accessed by public.

By the way, if anyone has any information on how to set up IP "A" records properly at Network Solutions for both IP's I'd appreciate it. It has three defaults (www, *, @) for primary, so I did the same for secondary IP and that's where I ran into trouble, I think. I can't find any comprehensive help on the subject as it pertains specifically to how Network Solutions website configuration is designed.

If you are still having issues you may want to contact the registrar for assistance with setting your DNS records correctly.

Feel free to open a support ticket with us to ensure the records are correctly set at the server as well. A support ticket can be submitted from within your client portal at "https://my.knownhost.com" or by emailing us from your authorized email at "support@knownhost.com".

are you setting up your nameserver for the domain in question, or just pointing the domain to your server as a website in the normal way?

Those are two different scenarios, hopefully KH support can clarify for you if you don't see what I mean...

If you want to use all services on your KH server (Email, FTP, website, etc.) Setting NameServers over at Network Solutions will be far easier for you. It'd just be one and done. The only reason you would want to make changes to just DNS records (A records, @, *, etc) would be if you want to use different servers for your email or other services or subdomains.
