    Hi,

I've noticed that other hosting companies offer a broader choice of distros.

Will you be offering, any time soon, a selection of Linux distros? If so, what's the time frame - how soon?

I really am not a big fan of RedHat based distros and prefer to stick with the distro that I'm confortable with and enjoy using (Debian).

I don't want to come off as distro snob. I just think that having a broader selection will be beneficial to knowhost.

Thanks for any info you can share about future plans of distro choices.

    Hello,

Thanks for the questions. In general we are trying to keep things streamlined for now which is why we only offer CentOS 4.3. We are familiar with other OS's but at this time prefer to not offer them. We know Debian is a good OS so will take this into consideration. I hope you understand.

    Have you used CentOS before?

    Regards,
    Joel

    Hi,

    Thanks for responding so quickly.

I have shunned the exterprise distros far too long.

I have signed up for the VPS L plan and I just signed up for a 6 week oline course, run by Mike Weber of SpiderTools, which focuses on basic sys admin in CentOS.

I'm on my way to becoming a CentOS guru and a happy knownhost customer.

For anyone interested, here are the links to the course[1] and an article[2] about such training:
