AlmaLinux 8 to AlmaLinux 9 [Elevate cPanel]

Hello,

I would like to upgrade my managed VPS hosting from Almalinux 8 to 9, since it is now officially supported by Elevate.

Can you tell me if it's already possible to ask for this, or an estimated time on when this task can be processed by your technical support?

Thanks.

Howdy,

We haven't officially tested/rolled out any 8>9 ELevates yet. A lot of our VPS platforms require us to write a custom upgrade process that works outside of ELevate so if you're on those platforms we haven't released that yet.

If you're on a cloud server the standard ELevate could be attempted, or if you're on a bare metal we could attempt it as well but the regular OVZ process won't likely be ready for a bit longer as we still have more than a few customers dragging on going from 7>8 keeping our staff quite busy with those.

@KH-DanielP , thanks for your reply, I appreciate.

With my OpenVZ plan, maybe it would be possible to process this upgrade or complete reinstallation, if I decide to start from zero, and delete all files and accounts in CPanel/WHM?

Thanks.

Howdy,

We will eventually offer upgrades for those, but I've got to rebuild a lot of our conversion process for 8>9, however if you want to start from scratch, we can absolutely reinstall your server with Alma9 that wouldn't be a problem at all.

Alma8~ doesn't go EOL until 2029 but I do expect us to have a conversion path later this year for 8>9 upgrades.

Thanks @KH-DanielP,

yes, for me it would be the best choice to restart everything from scratch, as I am not using my OpenVZ since a few months.
In the next days/weeks I will just backup everything I have in there, and then, when I am ready, I will contact support for this request.

Thanks again for your presence & clarifications.
