    Hi All,

Just got my VPS with KH and so far service has been great and the forum very helpful which is very welcoming.

I am kind of new to this server stuff and my knowledge is very patchy especially the DNS stuff.

My .co.uk domains are currently held at 123-reg.co.uk

my host runs off one of these domains.

    so:
    ns1.mydomain.co.uk links to myprimaryip
    ns2.mydomain.co.uk links to mysecondaryip

Does this mean that if 123-reg goes down, none of my domains will work, or is it the case that once the domains/nameservers have propagated are they independent of 123-reg.

It's just I have heard a few bad reports about 123-reg and I would rather move my host domain to Namecheap and pay the extra if it will make it more stable.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Morning bozboz,

I can't say that I have personally seen a registrar go down but if they did my guess is that your domain would become unreachable and this would not matter if you had custom nameservers or not.
