Looking for a managed VPS

I am looking for managed VPS hosting for a new Xenforo site (no posts or current visitors).

1. Will an SSD-1 be sufficient to start with, or would an SSD-2 be noticeably better?
2. In practical terms what is the dividing line between the scope of support KH provides and what is purely the customers responsibility. For example if the MySQL database server goes down will KH help diagnose what is going on?
3. Is there a handy guide or advice you would give to those without a background in servers on what they should know and tasks done on a regular basis that would make things easier on everybody?

Thank you

I am not from KH team, only a happy customer with a Dedicated, but i have used SSD VPS's from KH in the past (they are the best).

For your question number 2, maybe this will help: https://www.knownhost.com/support-coverage.html , And from my personal experience, everytime i have had an issue, that i was not able to solved/handle, or even because i was out of my home, i contacted KH Support, and was more than professional support to help or completely solved the issue.

About your first question, i am not quite familiar with Xenforo requirements, but if the site is completely new, without even visitors, you could get the 1st package, and then when you have all configured and working, upgrade, since extra ram it's always welcome.

You won't be wrong going with KH as your partner;)

Hey @Ebla, thanks for your interest in KnownHost.

1) It won't be noticeably faster, but it will be able to handle more traffic. More RAM doesn't make things faster (unless it's needed for caching) it just generally allows for more simultaneous capacity with webservers.
2) This line is drawn at things that are of developmental nature. If MySQL, Apache, etc. go down we will absolutely fix this. Server-side stuff is on us, managing your site is on you. If there's a PHP error for example that's a server-side problem we'll dig into it and fix the server. If it's a code-related error of say "class not defined" or something of that nature this would be on you.
3) Just managing your site is all you have to worry about. If you're using a CMS like Wordpress be sure to keep it up to date. Past that the server will update itself, cPanel will update itself, etc. If you ever have questions we're just a quick ticket away, too.

Look forward to seeing you sign up :)

EDIT: Just want to add that Xenforo is awesome and you'll have no problems running it on a VPS (or dedi) with us.

Offering optimum uptime and excellent customer service, KnownHost is the US VPS specialist for you.

I'd like to respond to this as a customer. While those dividing lines exist, there's not much that they're not willing to do in order to make you happy. And, trust me, you'll be very happy. Great folks here.

The SSD platform is stellar, by the way. It's certainly brag-worthy.

That is certainly reasonable. The reason for my post is I am trying to understand where my responsibilities lay as a customer due to my experiences with another host over this last year. Thank guys for your responses.
