You can easily turn off, or on, the sending of pingbacks from within the main WordPress menu options of your given site install.  If you’d like to know, “How do I disable sending pingbacks?”, then read on….

  1. After logging into the WordPress admin area….
  2. Click on Settings, then
  3. Click on Discussion
  4. Look at the first section, Default Post Settings
  5. Look at the first checkbox, Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the post
  6. Make changes, then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page

If you’d like to send pingbacks whenever you link to a blog post, internally or externally, then make sure the checkbox is CHECKED.

If you’d like to disable pingbacks, so you can link to your own site, or others, without generating a pingback notification, then make sure the checkbox is UNCHECKED.
