This will primarily pertain to Unmanaged Dedicated server customers so that they know how to change their&nbsp;OS&nbsp;and\/or reinstall their current&nbsp;OS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, our Managed Customers who wish to take a more &#8220;hands on&#8221; approach can reinstall their&nbsp;OS&nbsp;(Almalinux 8\/Almalinux 9) too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of this time, the available operating systems are as such:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CentOS 6 (EOL) (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CentOS 7 (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CentOS 8 (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Almalinux 8 (Unmanaged\/Managed Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Almalinux 9 (Unmanaged\/Managed Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Debian 7 (EOL) (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Debian 8 (EOL) (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Debian 9 (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Debian 10 (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Unmanaged Servers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Unmanaged Servers) (No RAID Support)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Unmanaged Servers) (No RAID Support)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to access this section for your Dedicated Server, you&#8217;ll need to be logged into your Dedi. Server Management Panel. This article assumes that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/how-to-access-your-knownhost-dedi-management-panel\/\">How to Access the Dedi Management Panel<\/a>&nbsp;has been read and you&#8217;re familiar with logging into the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;re within your panel, you&#8217;ll want to manage the server you wish to set reinstall the operating system for by clicking the &#8220;manage&#8221; button beside the server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We only have one here, so we&#8217;ll use this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-access4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-access4.png 1000w, https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-access4-300x46.png 300w, https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-access4-768x117.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;re on the next page within this management interface for your selected server, you&#8217;ll want to scroll down to the &#8220;Operating System Reload&#8221; section that shows as such.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve clipped the screenshot to only show the &#8220;Operating System Reload&#8221; section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this section, you&#8217;d click the &#8220;Profile&#8221; box to drop-down. This will show a selection of Operating Systems in which you can choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat.png 600w, https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat-300x126.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve made your selection, click &#8220;Reload Operating System&#8221; \u2013 this will generate a pop up box that will ask you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify new root password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm that you understand all data existing will be removed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"289\" src=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-553\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.knownhost.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/kh-os-reformat1-300x145.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;re sure, click &#8220;Reload Operating System&#8221; again and this will begin a progress bar that will track from 0%-100% showing you the progress it&#8217;s currently in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When this process is completed, you&#8217;ll receive an email (Your server&#8217;s new login credentials) notifying you of such to the email you signed up with for that Dedicated Servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Greetings Customer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We just finished installing Debian 10 on test.knownhost.com &lt;RACK-NUMBER&gt;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you ordered a managed server with a control panel the installation of it is starting now. Please allow time for this to complete before accessing the server. For cPanel this is generally 10-20 minutes.
