    Move to SH-2?

One more question about the potential switch: The shared accounts have a limit of 200,000 inodes and I want to make sure I'm not against or over that. Can I use the File Usage number in the cPanel stats as a reasonable representation of my inode usage?

    Move to SH-2?

Thanks Daniel. I'll contact sales when I'm ready to switch.

    Move to SH-2?

A number of years ago I moved my business from shared hosting with another company to a VPS-2 at Knownhost. I did that because I needed the reliability and performance of my own resources. I've been thrilled! I am heading toward retirement and expect to liquidate my business assets. So I...

    Live support

I previously bought hosting from a company that had live support. What this meant there was I could spend 20 minutes or longer staring at a chat window waiting for a connection to a tech on their end. Then I usually got someone that couldn't address the issue. The phone was worse. Here, when...

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

That's exactly what was in the distro I used. I've opened a couple documents but really haven't tried to use it.

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

I thought I'd post what I finally ended up doing. The set up I've been using has worked well for me. I haven't found a "free" package that I had confidence I could just switch to with little pain. When I asked questions about QuickBooks on line versions and which would be suitable they...

    Cron advice needed.

    That was it.

    Cron advice needed.

Thanks Dan, I can't get to the log here at work because I don't have putty installed here (I do most of my system work at home). I did enable email from the cron jobs and got this: "Usage: mysqldump [OPTIONS] database [tables]" I know that kind of error. Looking back at my command line I've...

    Cron advice needed.

I've got a single database that I wish to back up every four hours business days. In cPanel I've got the following cron entry: 0 */4 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/mysqldump -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD ACCOUNT_DB >/home/ACCOUNT/DBbackup It does not seem to run. The command works if I enter in a shell. Any...

    Boring.......

I wasn't going to name names, but since you did........ I wonder if Arvixe has any customers left.

    Boring.......

Today is my one year anniversary with KnownHost and it's really boring. At the old place my server would get slow or go down and I could argue with support for days. I could also go on their forum and see hundreds of posts from people with similar problems. As far as I know, my KnownHost...

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

Thanks DK999k. I'll look into it. One thing about rolling my own - I can integrate it with the rest of my business. That's part of why I was looking for something open source I could cannibalize.

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

Thanks phpAddict. That's probably where I'll end up. I've got a motorcycle/ATV repair business. All the transactions are done in my office and are against invoices generated by my shop management software. All I really need is a check book register and some ability to track income/expenses...

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't heard of xero but had toyed with the idea of Quickbooks on line. I definitely prefer free, but my larger concern is having my information in their database of thousands of customers. Seems like it might be tempting for hackers. While my own security probably...

    Book keeping/Accounting software suggestions?

I currently keep my business books in Quicken running on a Windows desktop. I'd like to find an application to put on my VPS so I could access my books from anywhere and free myself from the Windows platform. It needs to have features similar to Quicken to reconcile accounts and generate...

    Migrating from HostGator

I too am a former Arvixe customer, about 6 years there. In fairness to Arvixe I got spoiled with how much I got with a $4/month shared plan. Then last fall they "upgraded" my server and the trouble started. Bottom line is I have a business application that doesn't use many resources/hour but...

    tailwatchd

Thanks Dan. It is running, and the Startup Log (image in the original post) indicates that it was already running, but with a different path. Anything I should look at there?

    tailwatchd

This morning I got an email with the message: The service “tailwatchd” appears to be down. It looks like it was sent shortly after cpanel was updated to 11.50.0.19. Was this a one time thing or do I need to be doing something?

Switching email client (Outlook 2000) from POP to IMAP

Well, I couldn't get IMAP to work on Outlook 2000. The folders are still there in case I ever need to go back, but I installed EM Client and will just use that. Thanks for the tip.

Switching email client (Outlook 2000) from POP to IMAP

Thanks Dan. I will be ditching Outlook, especially since running Outlook 2000 after Windows XP is sketchy at best. One step at a time though. I'll look into EM Client.
